Felix Lugo Named Dean of Residential Life & International Services

Felix Lugo, an experienced residential life administrator at several top global boarding schools in the United States, has been named dean of residential life at Springdale Preparatory School, a co-educational day and boarding school located in New Windsor, in Carroll County, Maryland.

Lugo has a cumulative 10 years of residential life management experience. Most recently, Lugo served in dual roles at San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno, Ca. As director of international student services, Lugo oversaw the international program for homestay and boarding students, supervising such functions as recruitment, admissions, acculturation and student support. He also served as live-in director of residential life, supervising residential hall managers, residential advisors and international boarding chefs. In this capacity, he directed a 400-percent growth in residential population and boosted student productivity by 50 percent using an online tracking system and boosted staff productivity and effectiveness by 75 percent.

Previously, Lugo was live-in weekend activity coordinator and live-in senior house parent at Leman Manhattan Preparatory School in New York. He planned and executed student activities, created a food voucher program and led residence hall daily operations. At the Vanguard School in Lake Wales, Fla., Lugo served as live-in assistant director of residential life and live-in residential dean. He supervised a 32-member staff and drove all administrative, legal and financial functions and played a key role in increasing recreational activity participation by 98 percent and led the creation of new clubs and activities for the school.

Lugo earned a master’s degree in management from Warner University in Lake Wales, Fla. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Monroe College.  He has completed additional training at Rockhurst University, Love & Logic Institute, The Association of Boarding Schools and Cross Country Education.

Lugo, a native of New York, will join Springdale Prep on June 15, 2017.
