10 Jan History in quarter 3
Our United States history classes will kick off the quarter exploring the relationship between growing North-South divisions and westward expansion.
We shall use primary and secondary sources to investigate how slavery became a significant issue in American politics with great emphasis on the slave rebellion of Nat Turner and the rise of abolitionism. Students will also explore the Missouri Compromise and the issue of slavery in western states and territories. We shall conclude the topic by understanding how the Compromise of 1850 arose out of territorial expansion and population growth.
