Our English classes

Our English classes will be busy over the next two weeks!  English students in grades 5-7 will complete Palacio’s Wonder at the beginning of next week. We will continue in our classroom discussions of bullying and its effects.

Important Dates:

2/5/18- Guided reading packets are due

2/7/18- Final Unit Test

 

 

Students also have been given Greek/Latin Roots 25-36 in both hard copy for their binders and a link for a study tool on Quizlet. We will revisit these roots in class and the quiz is scheduled for 2/16/18.  

Our next unit in grammar will focus on pronouns and their correct usage.

 

 

English students in grades 8-9 will complete Pyle’s Otto of the Silver Hand at the beginning of next week. We will continue in our classroom discussions of medieval literature and the code of chivalry.

2/7/18- Comprehension Quiz on Chapters 10-14

2/9/18- Final Study Guide Due

2/12/18- Otto of the Silver Hand Unit Test (I will give students their study guides back to use for test preparation)

English students in grades 10-11 have completed their reading of The Awakening.  We will continue in our classroom discussions of regionalism, local color, and feminist themes in Chopin’s literature.

Important Dates:

2/7/18- Final Summative Evaluation The Awakening.  Guided reading questions will also be due at this time.

We will move along to the literature of Mark Twain, and his role in Regionalist literature in the US.

We will be working toward our Valentine’s Day of kindness celebration which will include a viewing of Wonder the feature presentation.
