01 May Social Studies and History
In our Social Studies this week, 5thgraders are practicing skills on the English colonies in North America and the American Revolution, whereas our 6thand 7thgraders are working on the beginning of Rome and the fall of the Western Roman Empire. They have also been able to identify the differences between primary and secondary source materials.
In our 8thgrade class, students are working on vocabulary building, comparing and contrasting, recognizing ideologies, and determining relevance. Currently, we are investigating the effects of the American Revolution.
High schoolers are investigating the impact of Enlightenment. We are using texts to answer questions addressing the effects enlightened reforms had in Prussia, Austria, and Russia and how Great Britain became the world’s greatest colonial power. Each student uses texts provided by the teacher to answer individualized essential questions. After all the students complete the assignment of answering the questions, we shall come back to class to have a class discussion.
