Springdale 6 Carroll Christian School 5

NEW WINDSOR, MD (April 10, 2018) – In spite of chilly temperatures, Springdale Preparatory School’s baseball team faced its second opponent ever, battling Carroll Christian School’s Patriots today in Westminster. After an early Carroll Christian lead in the first inning, Springdale Lions’ pitchers, Sean Bittner, Cam Wooden, and Zach Barry, held their own, only giving up 2 additional runs in the subsequent 6 innings. Using his speed, Sean Bittner stole 5 bases and scored twice. In the late innings, Joey Brauer threw out two attempted steals to prevent a CCS rally. In the bottom of the 7th inning, with Springdale ahead by one and runners on second and third, senior Patriot Christian Wooden hit a high fly ball deep to right field. Despite his young age, seventh grader Jackson Strzelczyk got under it to make the game saving catch for Springdale, resulting in a 6-5 victory over the CCS Patriots.
