20 Sep World Languages Updates
SPS World Languages classes are in full swing. We are finishing our greetings/general foundations core requirements, as prescribed by the Common European Framework of Reference (CEF) and American Council of Teaching Foreign Languages (ACTFL) for most Level 1 Beginning and Advanced Beginning classes.
German: Students are exploring the world of Wilhelm Busch’s “Max und Moritz.” As Oktoberfest approaches, most will be learning how to do the Chicken Dance, how to properly eat Bratwurst, Weisswurst and Kartoffelnsalat.
French/Italian: Students are exploring the worlds of Francophones, including athletes, celebrities, politicians, fashion designers and artists.
Chinese: With the arrival of Dr. Charles Chen next week, students have mastered general greetings and Chinese tones, characters and pronunciation. For the next few weeks, students will be exploring the world of Chinese gaming, animation, martial arts and education. We will have a mini celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival as well.
Spanish: Students are looking forward to Day of the Dead celebrations and learning the differences between Latin American and Castilian Spanish, and learned a little about salsa, merengue and flamenco dancing.
